Zumaia Offshore working for the BIMEP

Zumaia Offshore, S.L. has developed several projects for the Biscay Marine Energy Platform – bimep during the past months. In collaboration with Azti-Tecnalia, a bathymetric survey of the bimep area seabed was carried out in June. This survey provided helpful data for the upcoming sub sea cable deployment operation. Zumaia VIII: New building MPP tug

The latest incorporation to our fleet, a shallow draft Multi-purpose tug/workboat  to be named “ZUMAIA OCTAVO” will be ready for her first job within next June. With the proven success of the ex-“Zumaia IV” design, this newer and bigger version, is born to complement our fleet of heavy duty workboats and to be a reliable solution for the smaller projects.

Her main specs (details W.O.G.)  are outlined as follows:

Dimensions: 18.50 x 6.80/6.20 x 2.8m (l x b x d) / Minimum draft: 1.8m

Propulsion: 2 x FPT of 520 hp each at 2000 rpm, driving 2 x fixed pitch propellers

Gensets: 2 x 41 KVA, soundproof

Keel cooled

Bowthruster: 60hp

Bollard pull: abt 18ts

Fitted with towing pins & stern roller

Speed: 13.5/9 kts (Max/econ.)

GO/FW capacities: 51/6 m3 resp. Able to supply GO/FW at 35/20m3/h resp.

Towing-A/H winch: 35ts pull

Tugger winch: 8ts pull

Deck crane: 320TM – 1.2ts @ 16m remotely controlled

"Zumaia VI" - 100% availability

The "Zumaia VI" has completed her last  dredging assistance job for Società Italiana Dragaggi, S.p.a. (DEME Group), achieving a solid 100% availability of the vessel for the whole duration of the project (5 straight months /  on 24 hours work scheme) . She will now proceed to Malta for small repairs & maintenance works in order to return to Libya for her next new contract starting in April, another 5-6 month dredging assistance project in Al Khalij, near Sirte.

Port construction projectOur new building “Zumaia VII” is working for Messrs UTE OBRAS PUERTO ABRIGO DE VALENCIA, on a long term time charter, assisting our Client with supply of equipment, towing, positioning and sinking of big concrete floating caissons as well as supporting a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger.

“Zumaia VII” – our new babyThe new “Zumaia VII” has been delivered to us. She is a sister to the “Zumaia VI” with a few changes as to deck space (1 m longer), main engine power (she has achieved  32tons certified bollard pull), and crane capabilities. She’s already left to Valencia, where, on arrival, she will start her first long term time charter.

Misurata, libyaThe "Zumaia VI" mobilized to Misurata the first days of June 2009 and arrived there safely June 15th to start up her next long term job,  a dredging assistance project for Società Italiana Dragaggi, S.p.a. (DEME Group) This project is supposed to finish end February 2010.
